“The USET meant so much to Carol, it totally transformed her life,” expressed Thompson’s sister Judy Richter. “We lived about 10 minutes from the USET Headquarters. We were neighbors of Arthur McCashin, who was the first USET Team Captain. He was very inspiring and very encouraging to us. We grew up in the Somerset Hills Pony Club. Carol wanted to ride on the team. She spent winters there on the lunge line without stirrup receiving a very classical education from Bert DeNemethy, and that shaped her whole life.”
