After two successful weeks of competition in San Juan Capistrano, Blenheim EquiSports returns to the Del Mar Horse Park for two shows chock-full of fabulous events.

The Showpark Summer Classic begins on August 25th and runs through August 29th. The first show in the summer series offers both a Kids Day and the $40,000 Grand Prix of Showpark, presented by California Horsetrader, on the afternoon of Saturday, August 28th. The last outdoor grand prix of the season, this particular event attracts upwards of 60 entries and is a great spectator experience. Last year, top honors went to California superstar Ashlee Bond and her partner Cadett 7 (Little Valley Farms, owner) with Mexico’s Eduardo Menezes and Renior Mercedes Benz, in second.

In addition to the grand prix event held during the Showpark Summer Classic, the first show in the series also welcomes qualified junior and amateur riders showing in the CPHA Foundation Equitation Championships. Round one of the competition is on Saturday with the top placings determined after the second round on the morning of Sunday, August 29th.

The summer competition in Del Mar wraps up with the Showpark All Seasons Summer Tournament, September 1st through September 5th. This is the week that the young horses strut their stuff. Plenty of well-bred talent will take a turn in the show ring in the $45,000 Wild Turkey Farm Western League Young Jumper Championships, the International Hunter Futurity Classes and the USEF/Sallie B. Wheeler Hunter Breeding Championships that start on Wednesday, Sept. 1st.

The exciting indoor FEI World Cup qualifying season continues in California this week as well. The evening highlights include the $30,000 Showpark Jumper Classic, presented by Royal Champion, on Thursday, Sept. 2nd and the $50,000 Grand Prix of Showpark, presented by EquiFit, inc., on Saturday, Sept. 4th. Last year, having already taken the top prize in the previous week’s grand prix, Ashlee Bond and Cadett 7 again sailed to a victory with second place honors going to Richard Spooner and Pako (Kaylen Spooner, owner). The FEI World Cup, an International Championship indoor event, will take place in April 2011 in Liepzig, Germany.

Following the completion of the Showpark Summer series at the Del Mar Horse Park, Blenheim EquiSports takes a week off from horse shows before returning to San Juan Capistrano for the Blenheim Fall Tournament in mid-September. Three highlights of this show include the $30,000 Blenheim Jumper Classic, presented by Royal Champion, on Wednesday evening, the $50,000 CSI-W Grand Prix, presented by Cavalor, on the evening of Friday, September 17th and the prestigious equitation event, the ASPCA Maclay Regionals on Saturday evening, September 18th. All three classes will be held in the Blenheim Farms Covered Arena.
