After being held at the Sunday morning veterinary inspection at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, Becky Holder decided to withdraw Courageous Comet. The pair had been sitting in third place.

Holder made the interesting decision to run with Comet on his right side, something she did not do on Wednesday in the initial jog.

“Courageous Comet lost a front shoe on the early part of the cross-country course on Saturday and appears to have overcompensated in the opposite leg,” said a U.S. Equestrian Federation press release. “He is happy and comfortable back in the stables and is getting the best care available by some of the best veterinarians in the world to ensure a full diagnosis.”

Canada’s Jessica Phoenix did not present Exponential. Other horses not presented included Ringwould Jaguar, ridden by Sonja Johnson of Australia, Fernhill Gloster Rebel, ridden by Duarte Seabra of Portugal and Dourango, ridden by Marco Cappai of Italy.

Madison Park went into the holding box for Canada, but he passed when Kyle Carter re-presented him. The same was true for Belgian rider Lara de Liedekerke’s Nooney Blue.
