Buffalo, NY – June 12, 2014 – The Buffalo International Horse Show (BIHS) will host its 68th annual hunter/jumper competition this fall at the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center, so shine your boots and pack your trunks for one of the most prestigious shows New York has to offer. The BIHS will be held from September 10-14, 2014 in downtown Buffalo, NY. The show will take place in the indoor arena of the Buffalo Equestrian Center, the home of the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center (BTRC) and SBS Farms, Inc. The Buffalo International Horse Show (BIHS) is known for its large variety of hunter and jumper divisions, including their great prize money and promising competition. The BIHS is the most prominent fundraiser of the year for the BTRC, with all proceeds benefiting their therapeutic riding program. The prize list is currently available online by clicking here.

This year, BIHS will hold the Hunter and Jumper Classics on both Friday and Saturday evening, offering top-tier competition and events you won’t want to miss. Whether you attend as preparation for the Indoor circuit and Zone finals, or to cheer on your friends and family, the BTRC welcomes you to their home and wishes you a fun and successful show.

In 2013, the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) recognized the BIHS as one of only 14 USEF Heritage Status shows in the nation. The designation of a USEF Heritage Competition is reserved for competitions that have been in existence for 25 years or more, promoted and grown equestrian sport, and made contributions to the community outside the gates of the horse show by achieving, maintaining, and promoting the equestrian ideals of sportsmanship and competition.

For 2014, the BIHS will join the EQUUS Foundation Best Performance Competition.

Utilizing competition itself, the Best Performance Competition provides an exciting opportunity for the equestrian sport community to make a commitment to ensuring the well being of horses, and to be recognized for the commitment. The 2014 BIHS will offer the “Best Performance of the Day” at their competitions; encourage their competitors (junior, amateur, or professional in all divisions) to participate by entering the class for a $20 tax-deductible donation and wearing the official Best Performance Armband provided to the competitor by the competition and; donating the proceeds to the EQUUS Foundation to benefit horse welfare.
