The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association and the Emerging Athletes Task Force announced today that the 2013 Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session will be hosted by the University of Findlay, Nov. 14-17, at the James L. Child, Jr. Equestrian Complex in Findlay, Ohio. 

 The 32-acre James L. Child, Jr. Equestrian Complex, four miles south of the main University of Findlay campus, appears an ideal setting for the EAP Training Session. The Equestrian Complex boasts two indoor arenas, a large classroom conveniently located inside the stall barns, a heated viewing lounge overlooking the large arena and numerous amenities for both horse and rider. 

From an initial field of hundreds of hopeful young equestrians, 16 riders will be invited to participate in the National Training Session. Olympic Gold Medalist Peter Wylde will serve as the lead clinician again in 2013, joined again by Stable Manager Karen Golding and EAP Task Force members to determine the overall USHJA EAP National Champion, who will be awarded a $3,000 grant to be applied toward the cost of advanced training, as well as a $1500 gift certificate to Dover Saddlery.

Applications for the Emerging Athletes Program are now open. To be considered for the national title of EAP Champion, each rider must first participate in one of the 10 regional clinics being offered in various locations throughout the country during the months of June, July and August. The four-day clinics will be taught by some of the country’s top clinicians and stable managers.
